- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup white sugar for coating
- 1 tbsp cinnamon powder for coating
Make the Dough
In a saucepan over high heat, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and gradually add the flour, stirring continuously until the dough forms a ball.
Remove from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
Mix in the Egg
Once slightly cooled, add the vanilla extract and egg.
Use an electric hand mixer or wooden spoon to mix until smooth.
Pipe the Churros
Transfer the dough into a piping bag with a star tip.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
Pipe bite-sized churro shapes directly into the basket, leaving space between each.
Air Fry the Churros
Lightly brush the churros with melted butter.
Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Coat with Cinnamon Sugar
In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon.
While warm, toss the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly.
Serve & Enjoy
Enjoy warm with dipping sauces like chocolate, dulce de leche, or Nutella.
Pair with a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
-
Dough Consistency: The dough should be soft and pipeable but firm enough to hold its shape.
-
Don’t Overcrowd the Air Fryer: Leave space between churros for even cooking.
-
Best Coating Tip: Toss churros in cinnamon sugar while they’re still warm to help the mixture stick better.
-
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes at 350°F to restore crispiness.
-
Make-Ahead Option: The dough can be prepared 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.
