Ingredients

Dough & Base:

  • 1 pound pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced

Toppings:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce or crushed San Marzano tomatoes
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 ball fresh burrata cheese about 4 oz
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Garnish:

  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • Extra olive oil for finishing

Instructions

  • Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven as it preheats to get that crisp, pizzeria-style crust.
  • Shape the Dough: Lightly flour your work surface and stretch or roll the dough into a round or rustic oval shape. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel.
  • Build the Flavor Base: Brush the dough lightly with olive oil and scatter the minced garlic evenly over the top. This will infuse the crust with deep, savory flavor as it bakes.
  • Add Sauce and Cheese: Spoon the tomato sauce over the dough, spreading it evenly and leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella generously across the top.
  • Bake the Pizza:Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned.
  • Add Burrata and Finishing Touches: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately tear the burrata over the hot surface. Let the heat gently melt the creamy center. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  • Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh basil leaves and a final drizzle of olive oil. Slice and serve while the burrata is still lusciously soft.

Notes

  • Add prosciutto, arugula, or balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
  • Use high-quality fresh burrata and add it after baking for creaminess.
