Ingredients

  • 24 red cherry tomatoes
  • 12 yellow cherry tomatoes optional, for color contrast
  • 24 bite-sized fresh mozzarella balls Ciliegine
  • 36 small fresh basil leaves
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 small skewers about 6 inches

Instructions

  • Assemble the skewers: On each skewer, alternate cherry tomatoes (red and yellow), basil leaves, and mozzarella balls. Repeat the pattern as desired for a balanced look.
  • Mix the drizzle: In a small bowl, combine olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Plate and drizzle: Arrange the skewers on a serving platter. Spoon or brush the olive oil mixture over the skewers.
  • Add the glaze: Place the balsamic glaze in a small zip-top bag, snip a corner, and drizzle over the skewers just before serving.

Notes

  • Choose cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and basil leaves that are roughly the same size for the best visual appeal.
  • Use both red and yellow cherry tomatoes for extra color and a more vibrant platter.
  • For clean and controlled drizzling, transfer balsamic glaze to a small plastic bag and snip the corner.
  • Go for “living basil” if available—these plants often have the smaller, tender leaves perfect for skewering.
  • Make sure all components are bite-sized for easy snacking.
