Ingredients

  • 2 cans 21 oz/595 g each apple pie filling or 4 cups fresh apples (peeled, sliced)
  • 1 box 15.25 oz/432 g yellow cake mix
  • ¾ cup 180 ml caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup 1 stick/115 g unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Optional: 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Prep Apples

  • If using fresh, I peel and slice 4 cups apples, tossing with 1 tsp cinnamon. If using canned, I spread 2 cans apple pie filling evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish for this simple recipe.

Add Cake Mix

  • I sprinkle 1 box yellow cake mix evenly over the apples, ensuring no dry spots for this sweet apple cake.

Drizzle Caramel and Butter

  • I drizzle ¾ cup caramel sauce over the cake mix, then pour ½ cup melted butter evenly on top for this cozy fall dessert.

Add Nuts (Optional)

  • I sprinkle ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts, if using, for extra crunch in this easy dessert recipe.

Bake Cake

  • I bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbly. I let it rest for 10 minutes for this Caramel Apple Dump Cake.
