Ingredients

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup rainbow sprinkles jimmies work best, plus more for topping if desired

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy — about 2–3 minutes.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until well combined.
  • Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the Fun: Gently fold in the rainbow sprinkles until they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Shape and Bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Top each with a few extra sprinkles for added color. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the centers still look slightly underbaked.
  • Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use jimmies-style sprinkles for best results; nonpareils may bleed color.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • For extra chewiness, slightly underbake the cookies.
