Ingredients

  • ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup 100g brown sugar
  • ¼ cup 50g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cups 180g all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup 130g mini chocolate chips
  • Extra mini chocolate chips or chocolate-covered candies for decorating

Instructions

Prep Oven and Pan

  • I preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup with these Chocolate Chip Teddy Bear Cookies.

Cream Butter and Sugars

  • In a large bowl, I beat ½ cup softened butter, ½ cup brown sugar, and ¼ cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy, creating a soft base for these chocolate chip treats.

Add Egg and Vanilla

  • I mix in 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla extract, beating until smooth for these fun-shaped cookies.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, I whisk 1½ cups flour, ½ tsp baking soda, and ¼ tsp salt, ensuring even distribution for these adorable bear cookies.

Combine Wet and Dry

  • I gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined to keep these chocolate chip treats tender.

Fold in Chocolate Chips

  • I gently fold in ¾ cup mini chocolate chips with a spatula, spreading chocolatey goodness throughout these fun-shaped cookies.

Shape Teddy Bears

  • For each bear, I roll 1 tbsp dough for the head and two ½ tsp balls for ears, pressing ears onto the head on the baking sheet for these adorable bear cookies.

Decorate Faces

  • I add mini chocolate chips or candies for eyes, nose, and buttons, pressing gently to secure before baking these chocolate chip treats.

Chill and Bake

  • I chill the shaped cookies for 10–15 minutes to hold their shape, then bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are lightly golden for these fun-shaped cookies.

Cool and Serve

  • I cool the cookies on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to set the adorable faces of these Chocolate Chip Teddy Bear Cookies.

Notes

  • To prevent spreading, chill shaped cookies before baking.
  • Decorate with mini M&Ms or chocolate pearls for extra charm.
  • Great for baking with kids!
