Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs 680 g boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger grated
  • 3 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate Chicken

  • I season 1 ½ lbs chicken thighs with salt and pepper. In a bowl, I whisk 3 tbsp gochujang, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 3 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 2 tbsp water, 1 tsp sesame oil, 3 cloves minced garlic, and 1 tbsp grated ginger, reserving 2 tbsp sauce for this simple recipe.

Cook Chicken

  • I heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, sear chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden, then reduce heat, add sauce (except reserved), and simmer 5–7 minutes, turning to coat, for this gochujang-glazed chicken.

Glaze and Serve

  • I brush chicken with reserved sauce, sprinkle with 1 tbsp sesame seeds and 2 green onions, and serve hot for this Delicious Sticky Honey Gochujang Chicken.

Notes

  •  Use chicken thighs for juiciness, but breasts work too with reduced cook time.
  • Adjust gochujang amount to your preferred spice level.
  • Add a splash of water if glaze thickens too much while cooking.
  • Rest chicken a few minutes before slicing for best results.
