Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or chicken thighs for a juicier option)
  • 1/4 cup honey (for natural sweetness and caramelization)
  • 1/4 cup Sriracha sauce (adjust for your spice preference)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (use low-sodium for a healthier option)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (for a touch of acidity)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (for an aromatic boost)
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (adds warmth and zest)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (for a nutty depth of flavor)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Marinade
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until fully combined.
  • Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the honey Sriracha marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor).
  • Cook the Chicken
Grilling Method: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Grill for 6-7 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
Pan-Searing Method: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil. Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
Baking Method: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the marinated chicken in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Garnish & Serve
Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve on a platter, garnished with sliced green onions and lime wedges. Enjoy your homemade honey sriracha chicken!

Notes

  • Marinate Longer for Intense Flavor: Let the chicken marinate for at least 2 hours if time allows.
  • Control the Spice: Adjust the amount of Sriracha to suit your heat tolerance.
  • Use Chicken Thighs: For an even juicier, more flavorful result, substitute chicken breasts with skinless, boneless thighs.
