Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 black tea bags or 2 tbsp loose leaf black tea
  • 2 ripe mangoes peeled and diced (or 1.5 cups mango puree)
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice optional, for brightness
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves optional, for garnish
  • Lemon or lime slices optional, for garnish

Instructions

Brew the Tea:

  • Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium pot.
  • Remove from heat, add 2 black tea bags or 2 tbsp loose leaf tea, and steep for 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags or strain loose leaves, then let the tea cool slightly.

Make the Mango Puree:

  • Peel and dice 2 ripe mangoes, then blend until smooth.
  • Add 1-2 tbsp water if the puree is too thick for a pourable consistency.

Mix the Drink:

  • Pour the cooled tea into a large pitcher.
  • Stir in the mango puree until well combined.
  • Add 1/4 cup honey or sugar, stirring until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • Stir in 1 tbsp lemon juice for extra tang, if desired.

Chill:

  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours to chill, or add ice for immediate serving.

Serve:

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over.
  • Garnish with mint leaves and lemon or lime slices for a vibrant drink summer presentation.

Notes

  • Steep Carefully: Avoid steeping tea longer than 7 minutes to prevent bitterness in this drink summer.
  • Ripe Mangoes: Use fully ripe mangoes for a sweet, smooth puree that elevates the flavor.
  • Chill Thoroughly: Refrigerate before serving to keep flavors bold without diluting with excess ice.
  • Smooth Puree: Blend mangoes until lump-free for a consistent texture.
  • Adjust to Taste: Test sweetness and tanginess before chilling, adding more sweetener if needed.
