No-Bake Custard Slice

This No-Bake Custard Slice is one of my favorite go-to desserts when I want something creamy, satisfying, and easy to make without turning on the oven. The layers of biscuits and custard, topped with sweet icing, create a delightful treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 packs plain graham crackers or digestive biscuits or vanilla wafers
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Line an 8×8 or 9×9 square pan with parchment paper.
  • Arrange a layer of biscuits to cover the bottom of the pan.
  • In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
  • Heat over medium, stirring constantly. When hot, slowly whisk in the egg yolks.
  • Continue stirring until the custard thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, then stir in the butter and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Pour half of the custard over the biscuit layer.
  • Add another biscuit layer on top of the custard.
  • Pour the remaining custard over the second biscuit layer.
  • Finish with a final layer of biscuits.
  • Mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the icing until smooth.
  • Spread the icing evenly over the top biscuit layer.
  • Chill the slice in the fridge for at least 4 hours; overnight chilling works best.
  • Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try chocolate-flavored biscuits.
  • Instead of icing, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle melted chocolate.
  • Sprinkle toasted coconut on top for added crunch.
  • Add lemon or orange zest to custard for a citrus twist.
  • Substitute vanilla extract with almond extract for a unique aroma.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Best served chilled; reheating is not recommended.
