Imagine hosting a party and wowing your guests with a tray of golden, crispy Parmesan Spinach Cheese Twists. These irresistible appetizers are more than just a snack—they’re a delicious, cheesy treat that will make any gathering special. Every home cook dreams of making a dish that looks impressive but is easy to prepare. These cheese twists deliver on both fronts, combining flaky puff pastry, rich Parmesan, and fresh spinach to create an appetizer that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant.
Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until wilted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cooked spinach, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread the spinach and cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the pastry.
Carefully fold the pastry in half, sealing the edges. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
Twist each strip gently and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of each twist with the egg wash for a golden, glossy finish.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are golden and puffed.
Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
For an extra savory flavor, sprinkle some extra grated Parmesan over the twists just before baking.
You can substitute frozen spinach (thawed and squeezed dry) for fresh spinach if preferred.
These twists are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven for a few minutes to crisp them up again.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the spinach filling if you like a bit of heat.
