Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb refrigerated breakfast sausage any flavor you love
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk whole milk recommended for creaminess
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can 8-count large refrigerated biscuits

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/4 cup chopped green chiles

Instructions
 

Make the Sausage Gravy

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble the sausage until fully cooked. Do not drain the grease.
  • Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble the Casserole

  • Pour the hot sausage gravy into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Open the can of biscuits and cut or tear each one into quarters. Evenly distribute the biscuit pieces on top of the gravy.
  • (Optional) Sprinkle shredded cheese or any desired toppings over the biscuits.

Bake

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
